St. John's Weekly Reminders, June 12
Brunch Served: Make sure you stop by McPhail Hall after worship service for delicious food and wonderful fellowship. Everyone is welcome!
Uganda Lulwanda Children’s Home: The school has requested individual white glue bottles, glue sticks and children’s scissors (eg: Fiskars). Please deliver to the church office before June 19. Kathie Hartzog will deliver the supplies in July.
Brass Concert, Thursday, June 23: Everyone is invited to come to a free concert in the Sanctuary at 7:30 pm featuring students and professionals sponsored by Allen Barnhill. (New Date: The concert was moved from Wednesday to Thursday!)
Congregational Called Meeting, June 26: Please stay after Worship to elect a new Elder to replace Aaron Jacobsen.
Chapelwood Choir Concert, Sunday June 26: St. John’s congregation and friends are welcome to listen to a free performance, with guest soloist Mark Swindler, in the Sanctuary at 3 pm. The choir is under the direction of Tom Jaber.
Summer Chancel Choir: Be in your seat at 9:55 am every Sunday morning in the Choir Room and join us as we sing familiar anthems. No evening rehearsals required through July.
Session Highlights for June 8, 2011
- Received Banchiy Mari Simegn by reaffirmation of faith, into the membership of St. John’s, along with her two baptized children Kur Aywel and Aywei Aywei.
- Approved Ann Hardy as our candidate to be alternate Commissioner to the 2012 General Assembly.
- Approved repairs to the Bell tower, lights in the Sanctuary and in McPhail Hall.
- Received news that Will Leach is working to update our web site and will soon get it running again.
-The Nominating Committee requests that the Session call a Congregational Meeting after worship on June 26 to elect an elder to fill the vacancy left by Aaron Jacobsen.
- Prayers were shared for all the members of the Guatemalan Mission Trip, Kathy Hartzog’s trip to Africa and Vacation Bible School on June 26-30.
