December 22 Insert Reminders

St. John’s Holiday Schedule: The church offices will be closed Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26 and Wednesday, January 1.

Sock Trees: Help decorate our Christmas Sock Trees in their holiday finery in
December with newborn through kindergarten size socks. Presbyterian Women will deliver them to the House of Tiny Treasures and Small Steps Nurturing Center.

Presbyterian Women Bible Study, Tuesday, January 7: The PW Circle will meet Tuesday in Room 205 studying Lesson 5,God Provides (Exodus 15:22-18:27). All women are invited to join the Bible study, led by Rev. Linda Herron, from 9:30 – 11 am.

All-Committee Day, Saturday, January 11: Gather in McPhail Hall at 8:30 am for a continental breakfast followed by committee meetings. The January 2014 Session meeting will follow.

Annual Meeting of the Congregation, January 12: St. John’s will meet for the annual Congregational Corporation meeting following the worship service in the Sanctuary.


Flower Calendar: Please sign your name on the Flower Calendar in the Narthex to reserve your special Sunday for giving flowers in the Sanctuary for 2014.

Sunday December 15 Bulletin Reminders

Presbyterian Youth Fellowship, December 15: All youth grades 6-12 are welcome to join the Sunday meeting; 5 – 6:30 pm. Emphasis of today’s meeting is the Christmas

Christmas Musical Program, Tuesday, December 17: Everyone is invited to the Sanctuary at 10 am for pianist Alina Klimaszewska’s program. A reception will be
 held after the program in McPhail Hall. Sponsored by Presbyterian Women.

Ghanaian Special Worship Service, December 22, McPhail Hall: The United Ghanaian Presbyterian Church will be in McPhail Hall, 9 am – 1 pm, for a special service in honor of the visiting Moderator of the Conference of Ghanaian Presbyterian Churches (North America). Coffee and refreshments will be served in Room 210.

Holiday Hours: The church offices will be closed Wednesday, December 25 and Thursday, December 26 for the Christmas holiday.

Christmas Joy Offering: For more than 70 years, Presbyterians have given generously at Christmas to support the unmet needs of families who have devoted their lives to the mission of the PC(USA). Envelopes are in the fellowship book.

Memorial Service: Betty Nelson

Betty Nelson died December 1 in Galveston after spending the day and evening with her children and grandchildren. She died peacefully in her sleep. 
Her memorial service will be this Sunday, December 8, at 1 pm in the sanctuary with a reception to follow in Fellowship Hall.

St. John's Breakfast - Sunday, December 7

Everyone is invited. Breakfast will be a potluck, so please bring your favorite breakfast item to share. The program, beginning at 8:30, will feature holiday music from our own St. John's youth musicians, plus readings and poetry.

Presbytery Annual Christmas Open House, Thursday, December 5: Everyone is invited to the Presbytery (1110 Lovett Blvd.) Open House, 11 am – 2 pm. RSVP to Patricia Brantley by December 2 (713-526-2585 or pbrantley@pbyofnewcovenant.org).
