Weekly Reminder, August 14
Pastor Jon is away today. Pastor Jon will return to the church office tomorrow. The next Epistle will be published on August 18, 2011. We welcome Reverend Linda to the pulpit today and appreciate her leadership.

Seamen’s Boxes: St. John’s Presbyterian Women are collecting 2012 calendars. Please deliver them to the church office, Building 2.
Beacon Assemblers: Please come to Room 203, Tuesday, August 16, at 9:30 am to help assemble the August/September newsletter. No experience is necessary.
Sunday, August 28 Highlights: 9 am Rally Day in McPhail Hall, backpack blessing during Worship service and the last summer brunch, with Chancel Choir cooking.
2011 Mustard Seed Projects: Drop boxes are outside the church office. Braes Interfaith Ministries (BIM): collecting coupons and donations for BIM; Interfaith Ministries Animeals: buying and collecting pet food, pet food coupons and money donations; Pet Patrol: collecting money and pet supplies (dry and canned food, flea prevention, dog shampoo, cat litter, pet treats, collars and leashes; Sally’s House: collecting gently used clothing for women returning to work and Shearn Elementary School: collecting new athletic shoes (or money) for Pre-K through 5th grade.
August Session Meeting News
Trustee Mary Hughes was added as the Trustee Member of the Nominating Committee.
Session elected Elder Ann Hardy to represent St. John’s at the Called Presbytery Meeting on August 30 at l:00 pm at Baytown’s Faith Presbyterian Church. If you are an elder and would like to represent St. John’s at the meeting to approve the Presbytery Budget and approve a Presbytery staff change, please let Vivian know and she will make sure the Clerk to Session gets your name turned in and you get the meeting information.
Business Manager David Wintersgill reminded everyone that the fall calendar is beginning to fill up so make sure you get dates for your events on the Calendar.
