St. John's Weekly Reminders, January 1
St. John’s Holiday Schedule: The church office will be closed Monday, January 2. Attention 2011 Committee Chairs: The year-end annual committee reports are due in the church office (office.sjpc@gmail.com) by Tuesday, December 3. These reports will be distributed at the January 8 Congregational meeting.
Circes 1, 2 & 3: All ladies are invited to the Presbyterian Women Bible study on Tuesday, January 3, at 9:30 am. The lesson will focus on Lesson 5: Greatly Honored Are Those Who Show Mercy! from Matthew 5:7 and Luke 10:25-37.
Annual Congregational Meeting on January 8, 2012
Next Sunday during worship we will hold our annual congregational meeting. The purpose of the congregational meeting on January 8 is to:
1) Present annual reports from organizations and the Session (information only),
2) Present financial report for the preceding year, budget for the current year
(information only).
3) Approve any changes in the call for the pastor.
All-Committee Day, Saturday, January 14: Meet in McPhail Hall at 8:30 am for a continental breakfast followed by January committee meetings. The January Session meeting will follow.
Children’s Choir: St. John’s Children’s choir will resume regular practice on Sunday, January 15, following worship, in Room 209. Please contact Shirley Boyd or Kyra Noons with any questions.
Flower Calendar: Please sign your name on the Flower Calendar in the Narthex to reserve your special Sunday for giving flowers in the Sanctuary in 2012.
January BIM Month: January is St. John’s month to provide for the Braes Interfaith Ministries food pantry. Help by picking up an empty grocery bag on January 8 and returning a filled bag to the church any Sunday in January or place a check in the offering plate, writing BIM on the memo line. BIM can buy $27 worth of canned food from the Houston Food Bank for every dollar donated.
