Austin Texas, May 25th - 4 hours and 28 minutes!
Yes, that is how long it took me to finish the CapTex triathlon. The temperature was 97 degrees by the time I crossed the finish line after a 1 mile swim, a 24 mile bike ride, and a 6 mile run — all for the benefit of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and with the support of about 60 dear friends, many from St. John's, who made contributions totalling $4,153 — and in honor of Joene Moore and Dan Shaw. (All together, Team-in-Training participants from across the US raised nearly $1 million for LLS for this event alone.)
Joene Moore tells me that she has personally benefited from the LLS patient services program: They pay her hospital parking fees every year. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society supports research, patient services and education programs for blood cancer diseases. There is still time to donate: My account is — www.active.com/donate/tnttxgc/jfreeman.
Again, many thanks to all of you for your good wishes, support and donations! —John Freeman
