Chili Cook-Off, Sunday, March 1, 2009

A tradition at St. John’s is dressing in your favorite western outfit and attending our Chili Cook-off to celebrate the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. This year that date is Sunday, March 1. Join us in the sanctuary in your western dress and then on to McPhail Hall for our Annual Chili Cook-off after church. Everyone is invited to bring a favorite recipe of chili (in a crockpot if possible). Whether you bring chili or not, please bring your appetite and join us for an enjoyable time of chili tasting and fellowship. Chili will be served along with appropriate condiments as a tasty lunch. Come prepared to try chili from as many different chief’s as you can handle. There will be awards for the top chili makers and additional fun awards for runners-up.

Additionally all adults will be invited to register for the Grand Prize of the day. There will be two Grand Prize winners!! Each winner will receive a set of two rodeo tickets to see Clint Black on Friday, March 13, at the 6:45 pm performance.

Mark your calendars NOW! This event is fast approaching! Whether you have participated in the past or not, you are invited and encouraged to join the fun. Please remember to bring your chili in a crockpot if possible. We have a great stove in the kitchen, but it was not designed to handle the number of pots of chili we anticipate being entered into the cook-off !
