Pentecost - May 31
On May 31 Christians around the world will celebrate the Day of Pentecost. It’s often remembered as the church’s birthday.
"When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability" (Acts 2:1-4, NRSV).
On Pentecost Sunday many pulpits will have red cloths on them and many members will wear red clothing. What was resting on each person present on the first Pentecost?
A. Red birds
B. Something like fire
C. Red pieces of cloth
When is Pentecost?
A. Seventh Sunday after Easter
B. Seventh Sunday after the Ascension
C. 40 days after Easter
D. 40 days after the Ascension
