Summer Brunch Today: Everyone is invited to McPhail Hall for brunch after Worship Come and share the experience while eating a typical meal which is served at the Lulwanda Children’ Home.

Special Invitation, Today: The Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer (formerly the United Ghanaian P.C.) invites St. John’s congregation to their special worship service for the confirmands at Noon in the Sanctuary, followed by a celebration in McPhail Hall.

Book Club, Thursday August 21: Everyone is welcome to join the discussion beginning at 7:30 pm, as we finish the last chapters of our book, The Hole in Our Gospel: What Does God Expect of Us? by Richard Stearns.

Blessing of the Backpacks, August 24: All students and teachers (primary, secondary and college) are invited to bring backpacks, bags, satchels, and briefcases to church for a “Blessing of the Backpack” during worship at 10:30 am.

Presbyterian Youth Pool Party, Sunday August 24: All St. John’s youth (rising 6th graders to high school seniors) are invited to a pool party after Sunday’s brunch. Please bring your swim suit, sun cream, towels and dry clothes. Come and learn about the exciting year ahead!

New Sunday School Class, August 31: Everyone is welcome to attend a new Sunday morning class, Falling in Love with God, facilitated by Lynne Parsons Austin.We will be reading The Good and Beautiful God by James Bryan Smith. Books are available for purchase at the Church office. Come join us each Sunday morning from 
9 - 10 am.

Sunday after Church Snacks: The office is looking for people who would like to serve snacks under the walkway after Sunday worship. You would have to only serve one Sunday each month and the snacks are provided. If interested, please talk to Pam (Room 208) or call (713-723-6262) or email the church office (office.sjpc@gmail.com).

Save the Date, September 20: Braes Interfaith Ministries will be celebrating its 30th anniversary on September 20. Contact Linda Dyson for tickets for the upcoming celebration which will include dinner and entertainment.

Church Offices Closed: St. John’s will be closed on Monday, September 1, in observance of Labor Day. St. John’s staff wishes all a safe and restful holiday
