St. John's Epistle for September 1, 2011

Dear church members and friends of St. John's,

As we continue to pray for rain, here are your links to life at St. John's and beyond.

St. John's news & events

Community news & events

  • Ruling Elder Rupert Turner, former Moderator of New Covenant Presbytery, died on Mon., Aug. 29. Continue to hold his family in your prayers.
  • Presbyterian Children's Home has a job opening for a Foster Care/Special Needs Adoption Coordinator and Foster/Adoption Social Worker. Here is the job description.
  • September is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Here are two ways to participate.

*Urge Houston City Council to pass a Fair Trade Resolution

*Ask the Senate to reauthorize the Trafficking Victims Protection Act

The sermon text this Sunday is Romans 13:8-14. Paul talks about a love debt we owe one another in the church. So will we. Love here refers not to emotions but to right actions.

Christ's peace be with you, Pastor Jon
