This Week at St. John's - July 4

Summer Brunch Today: Everyone is invited to to McPhail Hall following worship. The Caring Committee is in the kitchen. Everyone is welcome.

Pastor’s Vacation Schedule: Pastor Jon will be on vacation beginning on Monday, July 5, and will return on Monday, August 2. Please contact the church office, 713-723-6262, if you have a pastoral need.

Beacon Summer Schedule: St. John’s newsletter deadline will be Sunday, July 11 at 12 noon. Please deliver all articles by email, office.sjpc@gmail.com, or deliver to the church office or Room 208.

Mustard Seed Project: Jennifer and Jana Burnham are asking for new small stuffed animals, toothpaste and toothbrushes, which will bring smiles to the children whose parents are BIM clients. A collection box is located by the Vivian’s office.

Children’s Book Donations Needed, Deadline July 25: Recently Jennifer Durand and Ernesto Rodriguez’ niece lost her fight against colon cancer. To carry on Luz Angela’s memory and love of teaching, a reading corner for future teachers and their young students will be developed at the UH -Downtown campus in Alief. To help build the “Luz’ Reading Corner,” Jennifer is collecting new and “very gently used” children's books. A collection container is located by the church office.

Session Highlights – June 30, 2010

…Mary Hughes went over plans for the November 13 Presbytery meeting at St.
John’s. She reminded us that ALL members would be needed to help that day.

…Flooring for Building 2 was discussed and a motion for Building and Grounds to proceed was passed.

…Session was reminded to attend the July 4 Concert at 4:00 pm.

…Dave Nelson, Mary Sterner and Aaron Jacobsen were thanked for a great Vacation Bible School.
